Max and His Equals

Press Release

Unveiling Max and His Equals – An Eclectic Rock Band Ready to Ignite the Stages of Kingston with a Fusion of Modern and Classic Sounds Uniquely their own.

In the heart of Kingston's vibrant music scene emerges Max and His Equals, a dynamic rock band that seamlessly blends influences of rock, pop, soul, and everything in between. This four-piece ensemble invites audiences to embark on a sonic odyssey that promises to captivate music fans with their diverse repertoire and energetic performances.

Front and centre is Max Davidson, a talented singer-songwriter and guitarist from the Kingston area. Max spent his formative years as a musician in the thriving local music scene performing his unique blend of styles at various different venues as a solo artist, and with bands such as Scarlet Sublime, Shouting at Turtles, and The Midnight Tryouts. In 2018, Davidson starred in Scarlet Sublime: Up on the Air for the Kingston Storefront Fringe Festival, a musical showcasing his original music with Scarlet Sublime. As a disciple of great songwriters such as Lennon/McCartney, Brian Wilson, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jim Steinman, and Carole King, Davidson's original music is composed of strong melody, catchy hooks, and complex harmonic structure.

His Equals…

The rhythm section boasts the exceptionally talented Eric Nasheim (Product to the Claim, Channel 77, The Midnight Tryouts) on bass. A gifted musician who excels at laying down unique and melodic basslines that only Eric's fingers can conjure.

Making the strings scream like they've never screamed before, Hank Rots (Radio Wasteland), the punk aficionado, takes the lead guitar. Rots injects raw energy into the band's diverse sound through the use of his practically bottomless arsenal of guitars.

Look, in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a versatile drummer blasting beats more powerful than a locomotive! Justin Vander Baaren (The Midnight Tryouts), the heartbeat of the group, ties everything together with his exceptional drumming prowess. Vander Baaren crafts rhythms so groovy, you have no choice but to submit to the dance floor.

As they prepare to grace Kingston's stages, Max and His Equals promise not only a concert but an immersive experience. Like being a fly on the wall in their jamspace, the band invites audiences to be apart of their creative process through engaging storytelling and good humor. Audiences can expect an unforgettable live performance that blurs the lines between the familiar and the unexplored.

Get ready, Kingston, for Max and His Equals—an electrifying musical journey awaits.
